About

Austin, Texas is proud that it's "The Live Music Capital of the World," yet most people associate Austin's live music scene with rock bands playing in the city's numerous clubs and venues, and festivals like Austin City Limits and SXSW. While rock is certainly popular here, musicians of all stripes call Austin home, including some innovative ensembles and performers who specialize in modern and contemporary classical music. Finding out where this music is happening in Austin, though, is often difficult to the uninitiated since there is no "one-stop shop" for finding such music. Additionally, while other popular means of disseminating classical concert information, such as The Austin Chronicle, ATXClassical, Now Playing Austin, and other various outlets provide a valuable service to the community, they often leave gaps in reporting, making it tricky to find any one place on the internet to find information about modern and contemporary classical concerts.

With atXX-I (pron. A-T-X-X-One), our goal is to change this perception and promote Austin's modern and contemporary classical music scene by creating a one-stop shop where the general public can find information about such concerts here in Austin and the surrounding region. As of now, atXX1 will simply serve as a means of informing people of concerts; there will be no reviews of concerts or performances, but this will hopefully change as interest develops.

atXX-I welcomes submissions from the general public about upcoming concerts or events that contain modern or contemporary programming, and these will be promptly added to our Calendar of Events. We also welcome and any inquiries about blogging for us.
